Pull into the East parking lot at Sunnyslope High School. Go to the back of the parking lot towards the football field. The camp check-in is located in the gym on the right hand side toward the end of the parking lot.
Every morning and afternoon, we provide a “kiss and go” drop off/pick up. “Kiss and go” is from 8:20-8:30am and 3:30-3:40. Simply pull up and drop your campers off. The counselors will ask a few screening questions and welcome them into the camp in the morning. In the afternoon, parents will need to sign out our youngest campers (Diamonbacks). We ask that parents bring their own pen. If you arrive at any other time, please park and walk to the gym to pick up your camper. Call the Camp phone number if the group is not in the gym.
Monday - Thursday campers will be at the pool from about 12:45 - 2:15pm.
Half day campers are picked up at 11:30am at the drop off/pick up area.
Days of the Week: Monday - Thursday afternoon
Location: City of Phoenix Sunnyslope Pool - attached to the Sunnyslope campus. Campers and staff walk to and from swimming.
Safety: City lifeguards guard the pool. There will be Lifeguard Certified Hubbard staff on deck during swim time observing our campers even when city lifeguards are on duty. Additional Hubbard staff will be in the water watching the campers.
Swim Test: The city lifeguards administer a swim test. Campers must swim the width (about 20 yards) of the pool independently. Campers who do not pass the swim test or choose not to take it, will be given a life vest (US Coast Guard approved) to wear while swimming.
Ryan Lemke joined Hubbard in 2016. He is the director of the Sunnyslope location. His love for camp began at Catalina Island Camps in California, where he spent his college summers as the Lead Diver leading kayak, stand up paddleboard and snorkel expeditions. Ryan played collegiate baseball for two years at Elgin Community College outside of Chicago prior to graduating from Illinois State University in May 2015. Since his arrival in Arizona in July 2015, Ryan has been the Physical Education teacher at Mountain View Elementary School. He also coaches the 7th and 8th grade boys basketball team at Mountain View and is the Head Junior Varsity Baseball Coach at Sunnyslope High School. Ryan and his Tiffany have one son, Holden. He was born last year right after camp!
