Campers play a large variety of games, sports and activities throughout the day. Our goal is to provide an environment in which the campers feel safe learning new activities, are active, have fun, and make friends.

All campers can learn and grow at Camp Hubbard, you do not have to be an athlete or have past playing experience. It is about trying new things, learning, and playing! The campers enthusiasm and self-confidence grow along with their skills.

We have listed a few of the different sports and activities the campers may play each week

This is a camper favorite…Robin Hood and Katniss beware! We teach safety and shooting techniques with a bow and arrow. All ages see success from just hitting the target to hitting the bullseye.

Score that basket! Everyone wants to make it in the hoop. We provide campers with a variety of targets to reach success. A popular sport at homes and on the playground! Dribbling, passing, shooting - great skills to know!

A larger variety of games and skills used with different balls and bats. Kids love to make contact or catch a ball! Fundamentals of throwing, catching, and hitting are taught to enhance the love of our national pastime.

Crafts & Quiet Games

Great activities for our younger campers. Creative, fun ways to keep them happy while allowing their bodies to enjoy an active rest.

Games & Field Sports

We play kickball, tag, capture the flag, football, four square, home run derby and other camp favorites such as medic and dodgeball. The games all campers love!

GOOAAALLLLLL!!! Dribbling, passing, and shooting are introduced and enhanced. A favorite sport of many.

A new sport to many. We teach bumping, passing, and hitting it over the net. We want all kids to crush the sand volleyball courts one day.

Swimming lessons are offered at Thunderbird Academy.

Free Swim is offered at each location. Hubbard Certified Lifeguards or city lifeguards guard the pool depending on the location. There will be Lifeguard Certified Hubbard staff on deck during swim time observing our campers even when city lifeguards are on duty. Additional Hubbard staff will be in the water watching the campers.

Each location administers a swim test. Campers must swim the width (about 20 yards) of the pool independently. Campers who do not pass the swim test will be given a life vest (US Coast Guard approved) to wear while swimming.

Thunderbird Academy has a shallow end and steps for the less advanced swimmers. Melrose/Paradise Valley, Sunnyslope and Griffith/Pierce Pool have a shallow end and a baby pool.
