Danielle grew up in Ohio but has spent half her life in beautiful Charleston, SC. Thinking she wanted to be a social worker, she stumbled onto a job out of college at a therapeutic wilderness camp for youth at risk. This experience opened her eyes to how helping others can be accomplished outdoors in a nontraditional setting where hands on learning and adventure where key ingredients. She then went on to Georgia College & State University and received her Master’s in Education with emphasis in Outdoor Education Administration. Upon graduation, she worked for the Charleston County Park & Recreation Commission for thirteen years. In that time she oversaw the summer camp program for ages 6-16 with day camps, overnight trips, and week long expeditions, and also managed the challenge course. She has experience with youth, family, and adult programming where the “sport” was camping, backpacking, hiking, sea kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing, mountain biking, zipline and challenge course.
Working with youth has been the backbone to her career and she is excited to be with Hubbard Sports Camp. She enjoys training staff, singing songs with campers, and popping into group just when they’re in need of a little pick me up. She enjoys yoga, disc golf, food truck festivals and exploring her new home state of Arizona with her husband Douglas and their son Boone.
